About Me

My nickname is Kigaia -- I love taking roadtrips and afternoon adventures with my family and friends, especially when such events are affordable and available on a whim.

Expeditions

  • 2012-08-16: Kigaia and family visited the rolling farmland of Riner, Virginia on a cold, rainy day to find the geohash located in a grassy field.

Achievements

A collection of ribbons that tell (part of) the story of my geohashing adventures.

Notable

Template:Virgin graticule

Notes This achievement was determined by the absence of any previous successful expedition reports on the graticule page of such coordinates. There are also no failed attempts. Are we really the first? Perhaps a ninja geohasher has been active in the region... if so, we extend an invitation to them to come forth and play with us. However, with no claims to the contrary, it appears we are the pioneering geohashers of this land.

Landgeohash.png
Kigaia Family earned the Land geohash achievement
by reaching the 2012-10-08/37.056576,-80.474358 (37.056576, -80.474358) geohash on date 2012-10-08.
Notes This being our first geohashing adventure, I'd love to have pictures of Heeli and Anu standing at the geohash with stupid grins, if for no other reason than to commemorate this day for our personal records. But our camera malfunctioned. And it was cold and rainy. And Anu lost patience with all of the above. So our expedition report will have to suffice as proof.

Kigaia Family earned the Drowned Rat Geohash Honourable Mention
by reaching the (37.056576, -80.474358) geohash on 2012-10-08 despite being partially wet from trudging through thick, wet fields on a rainy day.
