All of this weekend's hashes were fairly nearby, but there wasn't time to attempt all of them, particularly as all three were of questionable accessibility. Friday's was perhaps the best of the three location-wise, being near the twice-visited Cadron Settlement Park, but didn't work schedule-wise, so Saturday's hash was chosen instead.
We accidentally went in a roundabout way to the hashpoint, not helped by my GPS' insistence that College Avenue was not in fact College Avenue, but while this added time to the ride, it meant that we got to see landmarks both familiar (Conway Regional Medical Center, Central Baptist College, a familiar and pretty rock face) and unfamiliar (the municipal airport, a golf course, various community centers). I had brought various types of kites in the hopes that the day would be ripe for kite-flying, but there was little wind, and on the way to the hash it started raining, so that plan was cancelled.
Once again, the directions to the hashpoint led us onto a bumpy dirt road, an all-too-familiar sight when geohashing around these parts as Haberdasher then noted. Upon leaving the car, we were immediately faced with two paths, both dirt roads now made muddy by rainfall. We strolled onto the right fork, but as the N/S coordinates grew closer the W/E coordinates grew further away, and the rain clouds made it difficult to determine how to rectify this problem. Haberdasher attempted to leave the path to see what was closer, but AshtaraSilunar pointed out that staying on the path likely decreased the odds of getting in trouble for trespassing. The left fork was taken, but quickly proved unhelpful, although Haberdasher grew overly-excited upon finding several anthills: as AshtaraSilunar put it, "You don't get out much, do you?" The coordinates appeared to be in between the two, somewhere within the fenced-in yard, though its exact location was not determined. On our way out, we expressed sympathy for other geohashers also facing an endless stream of rural No Trespassing hashes. Such is life.
