Plans

When I went to examine the hashpoints for the upcoming weekend, I didn't believe what Eupeodes's map told me. Surely there couldn't be a hashpoint less than six kilometers away from my house! Yet the more sources I checked, I knew it to be true.

Since the hash was on Sunday, I had a few days to prepare. Normally this would help the expedition by giving me time to think, but in this instance it lulled me into a false sense of security. I was just going to head out from my house, walk into the preserve, and hike to the hash. Three miles there, three miles back. How hard could it be?

Expedition

It was 1 pm when I set out on my adventure. Even in October, a cloudless day in Phoenix means battling relentless amounts of sunlight. I wore sunscreen and a hat, but my biggest issue was water. I had only brought one bottle, and it was frozen. This would prevent my phone from overheating, but until it melted I would have to suck the ice to get any hydration.
