Plans

I had no intention of geohashing today. I had a ton of things to do, and geohashing wasn't high up on my list of priorities. However, two things happened today that made me attempt today's hash. First, I woke up two-and-a-half hours earlier than I intended, giving me some bonus time. Second, I noticed that the hash point was ridiculously close. In fact, it was at a nearby state park. There would be no wacky driving on single-lane roads or clearing a path through underbrush. Furthermore, achieving this hash would both award me a Consecutive Geohash and a Minesweeper Geohash. Lastly, this park was the very same park where a professor at my school got in trouble a few years ago for having gay sex in public! It was perfect! The stars had aligned to create a too-good-to-be-true opportunity!

Expedition

Unfortunately, it was indeed too good to be true. The Holman State Wayside was closed for some reason, and a huge concrete barrier prevented me from getting into the parking lot. I could have advanced on foot, but there was nowhere nearby to park except for the shoulder of Highway 22, and I didn't want to do that.

It was with a heavy heart that I turned around and headed home, thwarted by whatever government agency is responsible for state parks in Oregon.
