One of the things I enjoy most about geohashing is that it provides me with a good excuse to buy things! As many of you may know I don't travel very lightly. I've found lots of cool gadgets and gear and I like to bring it all with me where ever I go!

So here is a list of all the cool stuff I've bought and what I like about it!

Magellan eXplorist 500 LE GPS (GoldStar.JPGGoldStar.JPG)

  • Description: The eXplorist is my first GPS. I bought it right when I started geohashing and it's been with me ever since. It's a very basic model, displaying the current coordinates, your location on a map or a digital compass.
  • Pros: Cheap, easy to use.
  • Cons: Bulky, eats batteries, turns off when bumped, small display and limited functionality make even detailed maps difficult to use.
  • More info: Me and Juventas discuss the finer points of our GPS units. The Magellan website also currently denies any knowledge of ever producing the entire eXplorist line (which may tell you more than a product page could have). A couple more pictures.
  • Recomendations: A good first GPS but would not recommend. If you just want to display coordinates, a cheaper GPS would do just fine and if you want to use maps and actually navigate, you'll need something better.

Devinci Stockholm Hybrid Bike (GoldStar.JPGGoldStar.JPGGoldStar.JPGGoldStar.JPGGoldStar.JPG)

  • Description: Josephine is the first bike I purchased for myself back in August 2008. I am since convinced that it is the perfect Vancouver geohashing bike. It's light weight and good on roads with lots of carrying capacity, but handles unpaved dikes and trails just as well. I've put thousands of kilometres on it, ridden through all types of terrain and weather and never been let down.
  • Pros: Solid, light, versatile, mat black finish.
  • Cons: Very tight rimmed tires make flats a pain.
  • More info: Devinci website
  • Recomendations: Recommend this bike, the Devinci brand and hybrid bikes in general!
