Hey NWoodruff,

The coords on your GPS are off for 30-03 - they show 33.95962, -84.70211 when the hashpoint is shown as 33.3572209, -84.4029452...what gives? Did you miskey the coords in? :o) Kozz 21:24, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Scratch that - just saw the last pic in the series. I thought you might've qualified for Blinded by Science - have done that on more than a couple of ocassions - the eTrex interface isn't conducive to inputting coordinates with one hand whilst driving on freeways! Kozz 22:14, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
It still is 'blinded by science', isn't it? I assume the previously displayed coordinates (which NWoodruff reached) were based on a DJIA of 0.00? In that case the true XKCD geohashing coordinates (displayed now) weren't reached. I remember waiting for the March 31 coordinates whole Tuesday evening to maybe try a midnight geohash, since I had no time on Wednesday evening. When they appeared the next day, I was glad to see them being too far anyway.--Reinhard 22:22, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
I went by the only coordinates that I had. I was assuming that the page was correct. I had no idea that they wouldn't be correct. So is it reached or not reached? --NWoodruff 22:26, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Sure, I understand. The E-30 coordinates were correct, of course, because they are based on 2010-03-29 DJIA opening rate. Since peeron said, it didn't have the 2010-03-30 value, I'm quite sure that your page was wrong at that time. IMHO the coordinates are not reached (not being 100% sure), though I see it must be annoying for you.--Reinhard 22:32, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Can I get the blinded by Science award then?? Something... Anything other than a not reached for my effort? --NWoodruff 00:04, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Yeah from my perspective it definitely fits, "Starting with the wrong data because of entering the wrong date on the website, transposing numbers, or otherwise mucking up the technology also qualify." - seems to fit? http://wiki.xkcd.com/geohashing/Blinded_by_Science Kozz 05:08, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Sure, it clearly is 'blinded by science'.--Reinhard 09:55, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Btw: Funny, we seem to have found a global time, where Australia, America and Europe is awake! :-D --Reinhard 22:35, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

It is after 8pm here so I know it is well past your bed time in Europe. My bed time is coming up soon. --NWoodruff 00:04, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Twas first thing in the morning on Easter Friday - that wonderful time when we get 3 hashpoints to choose from! Kozz 05:08, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

I was going to see if anyone else made the same mistake as me and went to the wrong coordinates. But, nobody else Geohashed on this day. --NWoodruff 02:40, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

The true coordinates are not reached though. ;) --Reinhard 08:02, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
