Douglas Adams wrote in The Restaurant at the End of the Universe: "The History of every major Galactic Civilisation tends to pass through three distinct and recognizable phases, those of Survival, Inquiry and Sophistication, otherwise known as the How, Why, and Where phases. For instance, the first phase is characterised by the question 'How can we eat?' the second by the question 'Why do we eat?' and the third by the question 'Where shall we have lunch?". Geohashing can help. F and B suggested devising a list of pubs, restaurants, cafés, picnic spots, places we'd like to go for lunch in Cambridge of length 2n for some positive integer n. Assign a unique number between 0 and 2n-1 to each, and use the first n bits of that day's hash to decide where to go for lunch.

The inclusion criteria are:

  • It must be in Cambridge.
  • It must be a place that everyone wants to go back to (Two or more stars out of three).
