Expedition
The day went by nicely while driving though the temperature rose over 25 degrees Celsius and the weather forecast was promising thunder storms. But there was only slight drizzle as they were nearing a new, unvisited graticule. The area was familiar to them tough, as they had lived in these parts of Finland for 13 years in the past.
They went by one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Old Church of Petäjävesi.
They took a small detour through the center of Multia and after about 2km on the main road there was a big-ish area for storing lumber where they parked their car. Pastori changed into his rubber boots and sprinted into the forest. They found the point easily in the forest after making a little curve to gain momentum. They couldn't have been happier and Wife peeked her head into the selfie too. This was new graticule for them and also their 150 th hashpoint! They had even prepared for the occasion with a sign, but they forgot it in the car in their excitement and the pictures of proof were taken by the side of the road with a nice bear. The point was 29m from the clearing and they reached it with an accuracy of 1.084m. They were at the Saturday rendezvous spot at 04:00 pm but unfortunately didn't meet anyone else.
From there they continued for another 30km to their lodgings in Keuruu which happens to be by a lake so Pastori was able to take a little swim in the refreshing water and of course go to the sauna. Tomorrow they will continue on to the seafront and will attempt another new graticule. Stay tuned for more adventures with Pastori!
