Use {{location|AU}}
to tag expeditions that took place in Australia. It will add Category:Expeditions in Australia to the expedition.
Using ISO 3166-2 abbreviations, you may also tag the state/territory that the expedition took place in. The abbreviations Queensland, Tasmania and Victoria may be in full caps or have only the first letter capitalised.
Several territory's are not covered by Australia's ISO 3166-2 codes, use their own respective ISO 3166-1 codes for them. They are Christmas Island (CX), the Cocos (Keeling) Islands (CC), Norfolk Island (NF) and the Heard Island and McDonald Islands (HM). The Australian Antarctic Territory is covered by Antarctica's AQ code.
Several territories are not covered by Australia's ISO 3166-2 codes, and also do not have their own ISO 3166-1. To tag expeditions that took place their, use abbreviations established by this template, see the examples section for them.
If the category link appears red, do not worry and create the category. Make sure that it is included in the appropriate parent category, for instance, Category:Expeditions in Victoria is a subcategory of Category:Expeditions in Australia. The subcategories should be sorted in by their respective code.
