Plans

Farmland on Mill Ln., between Neshanic Station and Flagtown, Somerset County.

Jevanyn: Man, that's close for me (less than 5 miles from work), but I've got the bike today, and it's likely to rain. I'll see if I have time after work, I might be able to get there between 5 and 6.
It's about 7 miles by bike from where I work, then about 10 miles home. It's a stretch, but I might take a shot at it, if it isn't raining.

Expedition

Aborted

Dukes Parkway West, which accounted for the first leg of the ride, is only two lanes wide, with little or no shoulder, and a speed limit of 40MPH. It is far too narrow for a bicycle to share with two way traffic. So after a mile, I decided the trip was too dangerous, and turned back.

On the bright side, I did get an extra two miles of road distance in, and the roll of the road did not feel like much of an obstacle. Something to keep in mind for future cycling expeditions.
