On a fenceline between two properties on the outskirts of Bendigo

Today's Hashing is occurring on the side of a trip I would be making anyway, through about 6 Graticules. 2 hashes are within reasonable diversion distance. (Melbourne to Bendigo, swap cars, Bendigo to the Grampians, pick up trailer, the Grampians back to Bendigo).

I was slightly late, leaving Melbourne at around 9:30am. The trip to Bendigo was pretty interesting, even though there were no hashes on the way. It started out very grey and bleh, and became somewhat foggy as I drove (not enough to require fog lights or slowing down, but enough to be pretty fun. Much more, and there would have been a desire for fog lights). About half way, over a period of a couple of minutes, the clouds suddenly lightened and became white and backlit rather than grey, then I popped out into clear blue open skies and warm sun. Melbourne really does have its own climate which is completely separate from the rest of Victoria.

After waiting for the required car to become available in Bendigo, I set off on the trip to the Grampians, during which I would be seeking today's two hashes.

Bendigo Hash

The first Hash was just outside Bendigo, and a very short detour from my route. It took me a couple of tries to find the right turnoff however, because Google had failed again, and not only had it named the street I wanted wrongly, but Google's naming bore no relation to the real one, nor did its implication that this was one of the more major side roads. After a couple of U-turns, I eventually found the dirt road by landmarks instead.

I turned on the GPS and headed along to find the hash. Unfortunately Google was right about one thing. The hash point turned out to be about 150m off the road, right on the fenceline between two properties. The unfortunate part was, one property had a nice big 'Keep Out' sign, and the other had a big fence and a closed gate.

With one more No Trespassing notch for my belt, I took a couple of photos from the road and headed onwards towards more onwardsy things.

possibly Fergus didn't even bother to get out of the car, and the GPS ran out of batteries as I finished with the photos. I was going to have to buy some more for the St Arnaud Hash.
