I set out to a nice cool day with an extremely light drizzle, perfect biking weather. The trip there was a fairly uneventful ride of about ten miles. I took back roads that would allow me to circle around and take another route on the way back, in order to complete the Tron achievement, which isn't official, but I still like the sound of. I arrived at the location, which is located on a field surrounded by a low berm of earth. I walked up over it to the other side and saw that the field was lying fallow - weeds and clover grew sparsely, in equal proportion. I had no qualms about walking out into it to find the point. I got fairly close, although my cheap-o USB gps was walking around too much to very accurate at all. I got it matched to the hashpoint's coordinates to three or four decimal places and called that good. I spun some poi (no pictures - I was alone) for the Circus achievement, took some proof photos, and left a small sign with the point's coordinates.

I then began to head back, then realized that I was near New Seasons, I hadn't had lunch, and it wouldn't stop me from not crossing my track. I went there and had a nice lazy lunch and then went to head back. On the way another bicyclist and I happened to be going the same direction and chatted for a while before our paths diverged. I made the next nine miles easily, but come the last 1.5, I realized that I had done my loop the wrong way - at the end of this 21 mile ride, I was faced by a 1.5 mile hill. Legs burning, I chose to walk about halfway up before riding the rest without incident. Sadly, in the time this took, my computer, which had been logging my GPS track decided that its battery was dead, and died on me, so I have no track to post. However, in all, it was a very successful expedition.

Plans

Looks like we'll have two expeditions! Jhon and his father and Jim are planning one as well. --Jiml 22:55, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

I woke up this morning to an email saying that today's point was withing biking distance. After checking the location (a very nice one) and the land's status (owned by the business park but undeveloped) I chose to go for a Bicycle Tron Geohash. --3riador 00:08, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Expedition

3riador
