In the middle of a small patch of forest south of Braunschweig

Participants

Cbounce, MW

Plans

We talked about geohashing the day before, but the hash of that day was just a little too far off to go to (and my bike was still broken down). After seeing that the next hash was even closer, we just HAD to give it a shot. Decided to try grabbing the Midnight achievement right away, so off I went fixing my flat tires.

Expedition

We met at around 23:20, so more than enough time for the ~6 km to the Hash. It had been snowing a little bit for most of the Day and started to pick up while we rode. MW already had a good idea of how to get to the hash from earlier trips in the area, so it was an enjoyable ride through ~3cm of freshly fallen snow. We found a small path leading through the forest patch where the hash was located, so we got within ~10m of the hash while still on our bikes and with about 5 minutes to spare. After taking the screenshot for the midnight achievement and imprinting an XKCD Logo into the snow for the local roe deer to admire, we decided to try building a snowman, but the snow was too cold and wouldn't stick well. We built a miniature version just in case. After taking the obligatory StupidGrin Photo, we picked up our bikes for the return trip.

Overall, a very enjoyable ride through the falling snow at night and a very successful first hash for both of us!

Tracklog

Might add it later.

Is it true that this user earned the frozen geohash?
In principle, yes.
But why the XXXX are android phones forbidden (!) to implement temperature sensors? (2013-01-17 52 10).
