Plans

I was driving to St. Anthony today to go 4-wheeling at the sand dunes. I saw that this hash point within easy walking distance of US-20, and at a site of some historical interest as well. I knew that this was somewhat likely to turn into a 'No Trespassing' hash, but since it was right along the 2nd best route to somewhere I was going anyway, I decided to take the slightly slower, but more scenic route, and at least stop and look.

Expedition

Even though I was looking forward to making a 'Nuclear Virgin Geohash' ribbon for today's expedition, when I arrived at the site there were prominent signs indicating that I wasn't going to get closer than about 3000ft from the hash. There was remarkably little visible from the highway or gate to indicate that this was the site of the first serious accident at a nuclear reactor in the USA, and the only reactor accident in the USA to date which directly caused fatalities.
