This page exists to serve as a database of Geo Hashing achievements that can be attained by putting in a little extra work. To claim these Geohashes, you only need photographic proof.

Achievements

Land Geohash

Land Geohash

The simplest kind of Geohash, making it to a Geohash on land will win you the Land Geohash.

Water GeoHash

Water Geohash

Whilst not all geohashers have access to a boat, those who do are able to get the Water Geohash achievement should they live in a Graticule that covers water, which you would assume because they own a boat.

The water geohash achievement only counts for permenant bodies of water, so swimming pools are in but puddles are out.

MNIMB Geohash

Should you have to overcome certain impediments by virture of land, forest or water to reach your location, you can achieve the "Mother Nature is my Bitch" Geohash Achievement (MNIMB). To achieve this Geohash, attemptees must have to have overcome rivers/mountains/cliffs/trees/bears/mountain lions/drop bears/raptors or any other kind of wild animal from your country to get to the location on the day.

Achieving this Geohash is inherently only possible to the toughest and most committed Geohashers.

Couch Potato Geohash

Couch Potato Geohash

For those lucky enough to have a days location fall right on their house, therefore not having to move at all to get to the location, this one in a million Couch Potato Geohashing achievement is yours.

If this does happen, you also have to have 10 hours notice before the party starts. You supply the snacks, we'll supply the drinks.

Pub Geohash

For those over the drinking age, this Geohash is a pleasant suprise. If a pub exists at the co-ordinates you are sent to, you are required to have a beer and celebrate to get the Pub achievement. Unless you're driving.

Public Transport Geohash

This can occur when the co-ordinates in question lie exactly on a public transit route of some sort (subway, bus, monorail, ferry, train, funiculaire, cogwheel railway. The Public Transport achievement is yours if you are on said mode of transport at the specific time when it passes under/over/across the point in question. This may be an effective way to get the Water GeoHash, too.

"Going Deep" Geohash

"Going Deep" Geohasher Icon

This is achieved by actually being underground at the GeoHash site. We hope this occurs in a tunnel or cave, because if you just bury yourself to secure this award, you're taking things a bit far.

Should the tunnel you bury yourself in be inundated with snakes/alligators/crocodiles/bears/velociraptors you may be eligible for extra achievements.

"Going Up" Geohash

Something in the way of your geohash, like a tall building or a tree? See how high above ground level you can get. The Geohasher who gets the highest about a geohash on the day wins the "Going Up" Achievement.

Mountains and Hill don't count, Playgrounds and Ladders do. Distance is measured from ground level, not sea level.

Party GeoHash

If you make it to a saturday morning Geohash and independently meet other Geohashers, you are able to claim this achievement if you and your new found best friends play some sort of game.

Practically, a quick game of Rock/Paper/Scissors counts, Playing Guitar Hero on the other hand, does not count.

However if you're prepared, you may be able to claim...

Twister GeoHash

The ultimate reward

Playing Twister at the GeoHash location is an exceptional achievement, and worthy of much respect. Even more impressive should the location also have been worthy of a "Mother Nature is my Bitch" Geohash achievement.

For each Twister achievement, a complimentary container of Crisco can be shipped to your home. After providing photographic proof, simply contact ironiridis and provide your mailing address.

Thumbs Up Geohash

Here, the trick is to hitch hike the way to the geohash as far reasonably possible, preferably of course with as few rides as possible. Extra points if you use an Electronic Thumb.

Raptor Geohash

If you are being attacked by a Velociraptor on the Geohash location, you can get this exceptional achievement. Special mentioning when you lose your life during this encounter.
Pictures are required.

Community Geohash Achievements

Most Active

The graticule with the most successful geohashers is awarded this achievement.

Proof

To win any of the above achievements, you must have photographic evidence. This photo must include:

1. A Stupidly Grinning Geohasher (you)
2. Something displaying the date
3. A Geosync device showing your location or alternatively
Something in the photo that proves your location.
