The Santa Maria graticule includes most of the Gaviota Coast Line, Vanderberg AFB, and the towns of Lompoc, and Santa Maria.

Since a lot of the area in the Santa Maria and Santa Barbara graticules is under water, or lying on inaccessible mountains, xkcd'ers in this area might try checking both graticules to see if we get lucky and get a nice beach location.

It may be easier for folks from the Santa Barbara area to access a beach location in the Santa Maria graticule, than, say, a remote canyon up near Frazier (which is where we seem to end up frequently).
