Be sure to set 5-31-08 on the http://irc.peeron.com/xkcd/map/ map, it defaults to 5-30-08. -Jon
That doesn't help, the http://irc.peeron.com/xkcd/map/ uses Thursdays Dow opening for the entire weekend, so don't trust any of the spots it gives you.
Do you have a more reliable map or are we just waiting for the decimals to get fixed? -Jon
One solution is to use google maps http://maps.google.com/ and manualy enter the coordinates in the search box by appending the coordinates above.
- 2008-05-31 Harrisburg, PA - Near the Susquehanna River south of Sunbury. In a patch of woods near the road. Clint, are you proposing we meet at the Hershey geohash on the designated day (friday) or just saying "screw it" and meeting up there on 5-31-08? -Jon
- 2008-05-31 Los Angeles, CA - Doable. It is in the Hungry Valley SVRA.
- 2008-05-31 Providence, RI - An early-morning attempt might be made by Patrick
- 2008-05-31 Springfield, MA - I'll be there at the meeting time. I'm stopping at Brattleboro on the way. If anyone else is going, let me know!! chrisinajar
- 2008-05-31 State College, PA - Checking other resources to see what else is at our location, easily the middle of nowhere. (Hey, someone recompute the decimal figures, they differ from the map lookup...) Jon, are you still thinking about meeting up at 5-30-08's geohash? Hershey might be fun... -Clint
- 2008-05-31 Rochester, NY - Uhh, why are these coords different than the Map lookup? danierrr
- 2008-05-31 Portland, OR - Sauvie Island, right on NW Oak Island Rd.
- 2008-05-31 Melbourne, FL - nurlbes and detzold will be there when the shuttle launches at 5:02pm. Pretty cool! and no swamp, just oranges.
