Approaching the location, there was some commotion. It looks liked construction was going on nearby. I parked on a nearby street and walked into the little wooded strip of public land immediately adjacent to a parking lot. The tree cover was throwing off my GPS and I had to wander around a bit to be sure I knew where the exact spot was.

When I arrived at the spot, I parked right next to the nearby cache and wandered over to the hashpoint. The owners of the house were outside during yardwork, so I told them about geohashing and while they thought it was odd, it sounded kind of fun. I asked permission to come onto their lawn so I would be right on the spot and they approved. I snapped a couple of quick pictures and made a screen capture of my GPS for posterity.

While I was wandering the area, I saw a pole coming out of a concrete base. Attached to the pole was a box with letters on it. I found the geocache without even really looking for it! The letters were the GC code for [http://coord.info/GC30T3J the cache]. I signed the log and moved on.

The [http://coord.info/GC30T3J cache] was a magnet on the back of the "end of road" sign right next to where I had parked. Nice and easy.

Once I was sure I had the right spot, I took a few pictures and a screen capture of my GPS for proof.

Plans

When I woke up this morning and looked up the day's coordinates, I was happy to see that the spot was not only close to home, but there was a geocache less than 150 feet away!

Expedition

As soon as work wrapped up for the day, I headed out.

The cache was a magnet on the back of the "end of road" sign right next to where I had parked. Nice and easy.

Not a bad excursion! I found a geohash and a geocache in the same spot and didn't have to get dirty at all.

Achievements

RocketMac earned the Hash collision achievement
by discovering the geocache GC30T3J near the (42, -88) geohash on 2010-06-03.
