Wiebe Nijland just started geohashing and is based in the Vancouver graticule, but will also visit nearby location in Surrey or Victoria. My main mode of transportation is the Bike, but I will also use any form of public transportation or go on foot.
Geohashing Equipment
- Focus Mares Disk 2010, my beloved road/cyclocross Bike (2*10 speed, 105 Compact)
- Garmin etrex Legend H GPS
- Recta+ DS50 Compass
- Camera Gear (lots of it..., o.a. 5DmkII and Infrared converted 550D (T2i) )
My First Expedition
- 2011-11-27 49 -123 (Victoria BC): On Saltspring island, one of the Gulf islands.
Will involve:
- Bike to Bridgeport bus exchange
- Bus 620 (with bike) to Twassen ferry
- Ferry Tswassen - Swartzbay
- Ferry Swartzbay - Fulford Harbour
- Bike around Saltspring Island to reach the geohash at the north end
- Ferry LongHarbour - Tswassen
- Bus back to Bridgeport
- Skytrain to get close to my house since I will be tired and to get an extra mode of transportation.
