Oh, I came to say the same thing :) Btw we're all on the Discord now. Stevage (talk) 05:18, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
Dear Klaus,

Thank you very much for your warm welcome on my talk page!

I hope we will meet sometime, perhaps at a Saturday meetup.

Yes, I have actually one question about the achievements: How can I get one? My understanding is, that I can give the achievement to me by my own?

Good luck with 2023-08-24_49_10 - I wanted to try it too, but I cannot find the time today Torodeas (talk) 17:20, 24 August 2023 (UTC)

: Thanks, I was successful even if I didn't run. If the algorithm gives us a lucky spot we might meet sooner or later! Klaus (talk) 20:59, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
Is this right, or are this achievements given to me by an "admin"?

Sorry, one more question: Which tools do you use (at home for planing and also on tour, finding a geohash)?

Take care - Nico

: You can give you the achievements you think you deserve, there are no admins who are deciding if you earned it or not :) actually, you can make your own ribbons if you like! Geohashing is more about having fun during the expedition, actually, you don't need to write expedition reports, if you don't want to.

:For planning, I use google maps and openstreetmap to decide if it is reachable, then I save the coordinates into my Garmin GPS, activate the track log and start. Of course, you can just download the geohashing app (geohashing droid on google play) and use this one, it is easy to use, too. I like the site geohashing.info best for getting the current geohashes.

:One more thing: You may already have noticed, that the geohashing community is quite small (small means like 10-30 active geohashers in whole Germany). So the actual chances meeting someone at a Saturday meetup without prior planning are not very high unfortuntately.

:So if you notice a nice and near geohash and want to meetup, just leave a comment on e.g. the Stuttgart graticule talking page or create a page of the geohash. This will trigger an email for the people like me who are watching the stuttgart graticule and we might write our own plans to it (like Ekorren did when I created the page 2015-10-19 48 9).

:And finally: Just be patient, unfortunately most of the days geohashes are too far (>20km) away to reach them with a pre- or after-work bicycle trip :( --Klaus (talk) 17:36, 20 October 2015 (EDT)
