The achievement can be claimed when you reach a geohash completely on foot on the correct day, and take a photo of yourself containing the necessary proof. You must depart from your residence or place of business (or other) and proceed to the geohash by walking, jogging or running. Travel by crutches and manual wheelchairs also qualifies.
Swimming part of the way will not invalidate the walking achievement, but no skateboards, buses, helicopters or taxicabs.
