Knowing that his 24^th birthday was coming up, Luke checked if his Displaced Origin geohash was nearby. Sure enough it was a fairly short drive, so he planned to go at some point on his birthday.

Expedition

This retro expedition occurred on 2021-02-24.

Luke left his apartment with Emily in tow. The duo visited a Starbucks (free drink on your birthday, and the barista even sang Happy Birthday to Luke!), and then did a curbside pickup of dog food for Emily. After stopping a short while at a nearby park for Emily (and Luke) to walk around, the two headed north up US Highway 75. The music in the car was bopping.

The two exited the highway, made their way down Exchange Pkwy, and pulled into the front of a nice looking apartment complex that was right at the intersection. The hashpoint was sort of barely a ways into the cross-walk. Luke pressed the cross button, and when it said to cross he and Emily started crossing, slowed down to go over the hashpoint and take a screenshot of the location, and then continued across the road just so no one looked at them funny.

The other side of the street led up to Allen's Eagle Stadium, noted for its size, cost, and lack of structural integrity. Fortunately, it is now also serving as a COVID vaccination site! After puttering for about 2 minutes, Emily and Luke crossed back over the street and got a picture of the hashpoint. Luke sang Happy Birthday in his head, and he was reminded of the Mars Curiosity rover singing happy birthday to itself.

The two headed home (Emily drove, pictured below). Once home, Luke used Google Earth to find satellite imagery as close to the original date as he could, and saw the sheer amount of development that has taken place in 2 decades.
