I was kind of hoping that this house would be a vacant house so I would not have to explain Geohashing to them. I had printed out a google map and the pdf file that explains geohashing but I had forgot them on my desk as I left work. I knew that this subdivision that the geohash point was in has more expensive homes. I knew that my chances were good that it would be a vacant home, I just didn't know how good.
As I drove into the subdivision, I noticed that at least one in three houses were for sale. I would say 1 in 4 of those that were for sale were in foreclosure. Atlanta is sure hit hard by the housing market crash especially the more expensive homes.
Sure enough as I followed my eTrex to the spot, the house that the hash point was at was for sale and vacant. I knocked on the door and looked in the window and the house was vacant. There was a Realtor lock box on the door so I knew that there was nobody home.
I walked back down the side walk looking for the hash point. It turned out to be under this huge tree. I got to 2 feet to the hash point and didn't feel like crawling under the tree to get to 0 feet. I decided close enough and took a few pictures.
I then headed home to Norcross.
