I left work and drove through the center of Atlanta. What a disaster. There is a Braves game tonight and traffic is terrible. As I sit on the connector downtown Atlanta, I'm wondering if I can make it to the hash point by 7:30pm. I had received an e-mail earlier in the day from On2Wheels that he was going to attempt his first location reached Geohash tonight since it was real close to where he lived.

I gave him an estimated time of 7 to 7:30pm. He had previously said that he was going to do it earlier in the day and leave a note for me at the hash point. I got an e-mail later in the day saying that he had a babysitter and that he would be there closer to 7:30pm.

As I pulled up to the closest road access to the hash point, I saw a motorcycle. I thought that he had already beat me to the hash point. I hopped out of my truck, took a picture of my GPS and set off for the hash point.

I set off through these woods and I could hear noises of animals running all directions. Lions, tigers and bears, Oh my! Well, no, probably just deer.

I found my way to 2 feet to the hash point and nobody was there. Did they take a different way? Did I miss the meetup?

As I was taking pictures, I heard other noises coming at me. I could see someone off in the distance and took a couple of picture.

It's ON2WHEELS! We did make the meetup.

Pleasantries were exchanged and a few pictures were taken.

Since I had found an easier way through the woods to the hash point, they followed me back out.

On2Wheels then drew chalk on the street. I took a picture and then said that I would see them again at the next meet up and then drove home to Norcross.

On2Wheels

Made it to my first geohash today. I'd been emailing back and forth with NWoodruff for a couple days, and finally made it. This was made much easier by the fact that the hash point was about 4 miles from my house. I went home from work, picked up my wife, and rode my motorcycle to the hash point. I didn't know if the point was on the property of the nearest house, so I asked, and was told that the property ended at the tree line.

After a short game of 'Marco-Polo', met with NWoodruff in the woods. Took some pictures, and made our way back out. Shortly thereafter, my wife and I enjoyed a strawberry flavored squishy at a local convenience store about 0.6 miles away.
