Expedition

Danatar

As so often I was taking a different route to work in order to visit a hashpoint. I started out a little earlier than usual and when I left my appartment I saw the first snow flakes of the season. I drove through the snowfall along state highways which I already knew from other expeditions, then after Prosselsheim I turned onto a (for me) new road. Once I had to drive backwards for 100 metres because I had taken a wrong turn into the road that led to a ferry across the Main, which was not operating at that time of day and continueing would have led to a cold and wet death. Then I stopped my car near the hashpoint and walked the remaining metres. The hashpoint was within 30 metres of the road, but all I saw was a wall of bushes. Some metres further I found a breach where a big pile of sand/earth was situated and I could continue a little nearer to the hashpoint.

But there it ended. It was the day of the new moon and I was far from any lamps, so there was very little light. My torch wasn't able to penetrate the darkness and all I could make out were dense bushes. I didn't want to get lost in the underbrush, so I stopped. The nearest I got to the hashpoint was 18 metres.

I walked back to the car and went to work.
