Expedition
After about a week of heavy snowing and strong winds, weather was back to more normal conditions. Today’s hashpoint was in my corner of the graticule but I had not really planned to go for it. I reconsidered after getting an e-mail from Llavids.
I packed my gear in the evening; skis, headlamp and a thermometer. The odds for earning a frozen geohash achievement were fairly good. I left home around eight. Because of all the snow it was a bit difficult to find a place to park the car but I finally found a spot about a kilometer from the hash. There was a road leading to the hash but it was closed for public vehicle traffic. It was time for putting on the skis. The frozen crust made skiing a joy and I soon got the to the hashpoint which I penetrated with the probe of my meat thermometer. -2° C! Happy day!
I was soon out of camera batteries but there was not much to depict in the darkness apart from the GPS, thermometer and tracks left by rabbits. After skiing back in my own tracks, I got back to the car and was home again at nine.
