On a road in bleak Laverton

Who went

Expedition

Felix Dance

It didn’t take much to convince myself to go for this one. Having the Sunday morning free I jumped straight on my bike and headed out along the Geelong road towards Laverton. After 20 Ks of darting in and out of the service lane and finally traversing lonely kilometres of quiet industrial estate I reached the point. All too easy. The scene was not entirely devoid of interest, it being just on the roadside next to the Westgate Freeway. I could see across the Laverton Grasslands towards the city skyline, punctuated by a steamy oil refinery.

Deciding to take the long way home, I crossed beneath a freight train in a flooded and tadpole riddled underpass before heading towards the coast. The Altona wetlands entertained me as I took the foreshore bike path back to Melbourne, around Williamstown and under the Westgate Bridge. Quite a nice ride in the end, getting home about 1:30pm. In fact, this one qualifies me for the Tron award...

Here is the Bikely route I took.

Total Distance: 53.6kms.
