Spotted it while at work. It was really close at somewhere over a thousand meters from my office building, so I felt compelled to try and reach it, but I'm only an intern and would have to convince my father to make a detour on our way home.

Expedition

Fortunately, my father, after some momentary explanation of the location of the hash, he agreed to "humor me" and we left. (I've explained geohashing to him before, so there wasn't too much of that part.) Initially, he drove the wrong direction from the office, but I noticed soon enough that we turned onto the main road and were on our way. A few short turns while I explained some of the more humorous achievements to him and then we pulled into the neighborhood where the hash supposedly was. He had an attitude about him that suggested that he really didn't want to be along for the ride, but I suppose there had to be a reason for him to come along.

Arriving at the hash, a quaint little cul-de-sac, as seems to be so common in my local graticules, we got out of the car and I checked my phone's GPS function (one of these days, I'll get me a real device!) and concluded we were roughly within twenty or so meters. My father jokingly suggested that maybe it was up a ten or twelve foot brick wall that held back dirt from the house on the street over, not that it would have been hard to get to, but I feared someone might come out to see us climbing walls in their neighborhood. Luckily, the hash was simply at the very edge of someone's driveway, and so I got my father into the picture with me and took the obligatory Stupid Mug shot.

At this point, a woman's voice said, "Excuse me, can I help you two?" from across the road, and for a moment, I was sure we were looking all kinds of suspicious. My father explained the situation pretty smoothly, and apparently she had read about Geohashing (she might have meant Geocaching) and laughed it off, saying it seemed like a pretty cool activity. Feeling validated, we introduced ourselves to her, though I've forgotten her name already, and got into our vehicle to head home. All in all, for my first successful hash, getting stopped by the neighborhood watch was alright. Now they can put the next one in Lake Lanier, and I'll get that one if it kills me.
