Plans

Last night I set an alarm for this morning to see if I was up for going to the geohash before school, at the expense of two more hours of sleep. I wasn't, so I muted that alarm and went back to sleep. Class ended early though, so I thought "Why not?". Plus it's pretty close to IKEA, it's been a long time since I had their meatballs..

Expedition

  • Dang, it's been ages since I was last on the East-West line. I should've stood next to the windows! -- Cyazlars (talk) 17:43, 25 June 2014 (GMT+08:00)
  • Got confused at Tampines Interchange and ended up crossing the overhead bridge twice. Missed the 27 bus service but luckily another one came along not five minutes after. -- Cyazlars (talk) 18:20, 25 June 2014 (GMT+08:00)
  • It suddenly occurred to me that I could've just taken the free shuttle bus to IKEA from Bedok MRT. -- Cyazlars (talk) 18:27, 25 June 2014 (GMT+08:00)
  • Currently trying to push myself to go, because I'm an urban kid and kinda opposed to nature beyond a park and these fields have some pretty thick grass... -- Cyazlars (talk) 18:42, 25 June 2014 (GMT+08:00)
  • Though the good thing is, I don't see any "No Trespassing" signs. -- Cyazlars (talk) 18:43, 25 June 2014 (GMT+08:00)
  • I wish I had worn proper shoes. -- Cyazlars (talk) 18:47, 25 June 2014 (GMT+08:00)

The grass was longer than I had expected and the ground beneath was slowly turning into marsh the further I walked out. On top of that, I was inadequately shod for the trip - my shoes had holes in them by design, so water got in. I was fervently hoping that there weren't any snakes in the grass. Or mice. Or rats. Or whatever else that lives in flat marshy ground and tall grass up to my knees.

I walked around gingerly, trying to step only on the fallen clumps of dried grass to avoid the wet ground. That was when I wished the geohash app had an arrow to show me the direction I was walking in. Eventually I did find the spot and was within 5m of it, which was good enough for me. I stood there awhile to take in the scenery around me (which I rate 2nd behind this geohash) and the state of my shoes (which, being made of EVA, while wet, were fine). And then I decided it was time to go back before something did decide to crawl into my shoes.
