Expedition

I was planning on taking the dogs for a run in the country anyway and I saw that the hash for today landed quite close to the hash from last week. Stopping first at the hash, I could then walk the same trail by Allegany State Park which I found to be very nice.

I made lunch for myself and got the dogs in the car by 13:00 and we were back on the same route to the hash as last week. At least this time I didn't get lost in Bradford once we got there. I found the road where the hash landed and turned on my GPS. I drove up past the hash to the next intersection and pulled over while I waited for the GPS to find itself. I had two solid satellite connections but the third was intermittent. Then before it could get the location, it died. Fortunately, I remembered to grab extra batteries or I would have had to drive back into town. Finally, after about 7 minutes of waiting, I had a good signal and turned around to the hash. The road was only big enough for two cars to pass so I had to hope no one came up behind me while I got my pictures.

Getting to the driveway by the hash, the GPS said I still had about 50 feet to go so I went just past the driveway and stopped. When the GPS settled down, it went back up to 70 feet. I then remembered the hash was on the other side of the driveway and had to back up the car. I managed to stop close to the hash and got my proof before anyone came by. Satisfied, I drove back into town and found the road to Allegany where I spent the next 3 hours exploring the woods on the available trails.

Going home again through the park, I stopped for ice cream at the Quaker area store and let the dogs swim in the lake before driving the rest of the way home.
