Plans
According to the map view the hash was on a meadow with some trees in the western part of the city Lohmar. A street went along so it seemed easy to reach. It was necessary for me to visit the place before noon so there was no chance to meet another geohasher there at 4 p.m. But I thought that a second one in this graticule was unlikely anyway.
Expedition
As always I looked for hints of adventure. Driving to Lohmar was nothing special but then I noticed big signs warning me not to walk freely in the wood I was passing through because of ammunition. I remembered I was at the rim of the former parade ground Wahner Heide. It was in military use until 2004. Now all people may walk there - but only on the paths. Going across country is still considered dangerous. I only made a short stop (at a parking lot) to shoot some photos.
In Lohmar I walked onto the hash... until 23 m distance. A fence separated the boardwalk from the meadow. It was no park as I had presumed but a place between some houses, their gardens and the street. This could have been the end of my journey but I spotted some garages nearby the meadow. There had to be a way for cars - or anyone, if it wasn't barred - to reach them. So I went around the block to look for a passage. And found it, there were even a sign pointing to it.
A small street lead to the garages. In one of them sat a man having breakfast. He ignored me. 20 m further, unhindered by fences, was the hashpoint at a staple of firewood. This was lucky because there were several private gardens nearby. Had the hash been over there, it would have been rather difficult to find the right owner to ask him of entering. But here in the backyard of the houses all was open. I made some photos and placed a poster.
This had been my first geohash in daylight: better images and a faster autofocus at last. The temperature was moderate 13°C, rather warm at this time of the year in Germany. A local newspaper titled the day before: "Weather madness at christmas!" But it is probable that the coldness will come in January.
