Expedition

Pyhäkero, Enontekiö.

Pastori and Wife were on their way to Enontekiö in Lapland to celebrate Midsummer. The journey was long and during the drive they had to eat and drink many times and stop for the night before continuing onward. Additionally, as Pastori well knows, the Finnish nature is chock full of black flies and mosquitoes and horseflies and other creepy crawlies so the possible hashpoint had to be as near to the road as possible and in an open and hopefully windy location. The first day on the road they didn't run into any suitable hashpoints and thus they only drove about 300 km to their lodging for the night. In the morning they had a whole new hashpoint day ahead of them and this time they got lucky. After only 100 km of driving they took a 10 km detour to the Kemijärvi airport and the point next to the fence of its closed off area. As Pastori leaned on the fence they managed to get as close as 3.601 m to the point. After a quick 3 minutes and 28 seconds of photos they quickly retreated back to the car, safe from all the flying monsters and they continued on with very bright smiles towards their destination in the far north where the sun doesn't set for two months.

All in all 2 days, 850 km, two abundant buffet-breakfasts, one plate of sautéed reindeer and one beef steak, one pizza, 18 cups of coffee, 4 doughnuts, 6 ice creams. Altogether Pastori and Wife have gained 2,5 kg – so off to a diet!

Found the point.
