Expedition

What a beautiful day for a bicycle ride to the close geo ... CRASH! I didn't get further than 4 km before I took a bend on a bike path on the outside where there was some slippery mud on the tarmac. No chance to stay in the saddle and soon the road grazed the bike's handlebar tape, my right little finger, my right elbow, my right knee and my right hip and perforated my cycling shorts (which is the most annoying part). I thought about turning around and licking my wounds, but decided that wouldn't help at all and the weather was really too good to be upset. So instead I thought about professional cyclists finishing a race stage after much worse crashes and went on myself. The hash was conveniently located next to a forest road and I still felt good after 28 km. I rode on through Suhl and Zella-Mehlis, took the road passing Ruppberg and climbed the Thuringian forest up to Oberhof where it began to rain. Soon the rain became solid (meaning hail) in an electrical storm. The hail really hurt on my naked arms and thighs, but there weren't any refuge huts and I didn't want to get colder while waiting. After several kilometers the hail became rain again and the rain stopped. I finished my trip after 95 km and quickly got under the shower to warm up and rub and clean my wounds.
