First work, then pleasure.

After a morning of toiling Pastori wanted a little lighter form of exercise for the afternoon and so he suggested to Wife that they go geohashing. Wife is always as eager to get into the car as Pastori is to drive so they took their camera and binoculars and off they went 33 km as the bird flies.

However, as they got nearer to the point, things got problematic – due to the roads being broken up by the frozen ground the first two roads they attempted were closed off with gates. Things were getting really interesting because all the roads to the point were quite small and sandy and at this time of the year they were still not in the best shape. Luckily the third road they tried was drivable at a speed of about 30 km/h. The point itself was very easy, only 10m off the road on an open field.

Always curious to explore new places Pastori wanted to drive Wife home using different roads than the ones they came on. On the way back they saw some nice lake scenery, bays with ice on them still, dry forests, the stormy water of Kiantajärvi, with the city of Sotkamo and the ski slope of Vuokatti behind it. The sun was shining and they were happy.

This was a third consecutive day of successes with hashpoints. The weekend seems a little more difficult, so we'll have to wait and see when we'll be able to see Pastori and Wife again.
