Expedition
Pastori and Wife are on a traditional early summer trip up north. The first point along the way was in the ski slope at Suomutunturi, only 2 km away from the Arctic Circle. They had to go check it out even though they already had a point from that graticule. Pastori remained hopeful until the end but the slope was very steep and even though the distance would have only been 167.411 m, Pastori decided to head for the next point in the unconquered Sodankylä graticule. Wife was happy to agree with his decision since for her the climb would have been impossible.
They continued forward to the next point. They had to take about a 25 km detour from the highway and another 2.7 km on a dirt road but then the point was only 167 m away. Excited by the nice looking forest filled with bilberry flowers Pastori headed straight for the point leaving Wife only with photos of his back. On he goes... a little bit of dancing... and there it is. A joyful picture together to commemorate a new graticule conquered. After snacking on some bananas Pastori and Wife drove in to the city of Sodankylä to get some pizza and then drove another 120 km to pick up their keys and settled in at the lodgins at Saariselkä. After some rest and coffee they headed out again a little tired but determined to reach another conquest.
