Expedition

When this hash was published, I thought this would definitely be accessible, but I wasn't sure if I would be able to make it. We had a lot of rain move through on Christmas Eve which was going to turn into snow overnight. Then keep snowing all day on Christmas. I at least checked the streetview for ditches along the road by the hash in case I had to just pull off for a minute (assuming I would be going).

Christmas morning was pretty nice and we had about 8 inches (20 cm) of snow on the ground. However, because it was pretty warm the day before, it was the real heavy stuff. Fortunately, my neighbor next door was excited to get the snowblower out for the first time and not only cleared my sidewalks, but did my driveway too! Simon the Dog was a little disappointed as he didn't get to spend as much time romping out in the snow while I shoveled, but this allowed me to get going right away. The heavier snow was supposed to hit around noon and with the Lake Effect snow, could dump another 1-2 feet (18-36 cm) into Saturday.

They really kept up with the plowing all night as the roads were in really great shape for the drive. As I drove north, the snow depth was getting noticeably less deep. Getting to Sheridan, I turned down the side street next to the hash, and looked for a place to turn around. Just ahead was a mini triangle of grass where the two roads came together in an awkward suburban way so I was able to just go around that and drive back toward the hash. There didn't seem to be much room on the road to park, but I saw someone had already driven through the Law Firm's parking lot (employee parking area was in the back). I decided to just pull into their driveway and park there to be completely off the road. Up here, the snow was barely ankle deep which also made things easier.

Walking over to the hash area with the HashDroid app, I was able to quickly find the spot with little dancing. Getting a couple pictures, I felt kind of self conscious as there was a resident across the street shoveling his driveway. He might have given me a weird look or two, but didn't say anything as I walked back to my car. I then headed to my girlfriend's mom's place to meet them for some holiday breakfast and cheer.

It's been almost a year without anyone adding another Expedition so it looks like this is a Last Man Standing!
