Expedition

Finally, a geohash in my hometown! And my first time attempting a geohash during the daytime! Looking on Google Maps, the location appeared to be in one of those power line paths that cut through the woods of otherwise untouched forests and groves. Now, usually, you're not really supposed to be on those paths, but I figured I'd give it a try and see if that was explicitly spelled out once I got there.

You better believe that they made it awfully clear I wasn't welcome when I arrived. Not only was there a big ol' "POSTED" sign where the trail diverged from the road, but the sign was on a ornate fence that seemed oddly out of place. It was the kind of fence a well-to-do family puts by their patio leading up to their in-ground pool, not something a local electrical/security/whatever department uses to mark private property. Especially since this was in kind of a boondocks part of town, which is basically every part of town in Pleasant Valley, but still.

Alas, this sign made it mighty clear I wasn't going nowhere. Still, since I only had to drive 10 minutes to get there, I didn't see it as a tremendous loss. There were also the silver linings that I had worn horrible shoes for the snow, so I didn't have to suffer from my poor preparation, and that it was another notch on my belt in my journey to the Posted achievement. Two down, 98 to go.

One more thing: since I'm applying for a job right now, I figure that getting rejected from visiting geohashes is good practice for getting rejected by potential employers. With all these silver linings, I may almost call this expedition a success. Almost.
