Expedition

My girlfriend was traveling home from a family trip to Virginia so I had most of the day to myself. However, the plan was to go to a friend's new cabin in the evening after she got back. I wouldn't have time for an Official Saturday Meetup, but I could take the dogs and we could go for a walk on Clarence Bike Path again. I have to say, she might be more of a Geohasher than previously thought. She actually checked the Geohashes down there all week (but nothing was even close) and didn't have anything on the way home either.

After a lazy morning, I got the dogs ready to go around noon after making a sandwich and reviewing the route. The plan was to try this No Batteries since it was near the edge of the building and parking lot in the back corner, presumably in front of some loading bay doors. I was able to find my way without any trouble, but getting to the dead end, I paused to take a picture of the large rock with their name on it. However, I forgot to turn off the flash last time and it took too long to take the picture (I didn't come to a complete stop) so I just continued on and said forget it. Getting to the back by the parking lot, I was surprised to see a couple cars as if people were working. Hmmmm. Maybe I shouldn't play around and just get to the spot quickly and get out.

Pulling up the Hashdroid app on my phone, I quickly walked over to the hash and got a screenshot and a couple pictures and walked back to the car. The whole expedition outside the car was probably less than a minute. No one came out even as we were driving away, so either no one was watching the security cameras (if there were any) or they were all deeper in the building where there weren't windows.

We then headed back the way we came to get back to the main road and toward the parking area for the bike path. With no one around for the first section, I let the dogs run loose and set the timer for about a half hour. That way, I could make it back well before the estimated time J got to my house. J texted me on my walk and indicated they were on track to arrive around 15:15 so I could actually extend my walk for a bit and ended up doing the whole next section too. Apparently, I just enjoyed the walk (about 5 miles/8 KM) and didn't take any pictures.

I got back right before J did and we spend a very nice evening and morning at my friend's cabin down in Allegany County.

Apparently, this may be a Last Man Standing as no one has published a report yet for this Saturday. What???

It's been over a year and there are still no expeditions for this date so I'm claiming the ribbon!
