Plans

For the first time in almost a year, the Globalhash falls in the United States! Specifically, at 39.72961, -112.74048 on BLM (public!) land just north of Delta, Utah. It's right near a lovely looking hot springs. My roommate and I are planning to make a trip down there! My roommate and I will probably show up at 2:00 PM. The location is approximately 1km from a dirt road, so we'll hike to arrive at 2:00 then probably go for a quick splash in the hot springs. Hope we'll see some other folks there! ~NightRose

Expedition

On Saturday night, I asked my roommate, Suspect, if she'd be interested in doing this weird, arbitrary thing with me. She said yes! So then next day we loaded into her old Nissan SUV and headed out! Following a brief(ish) stop at the IKEA for a coffee table, and a long drive down a dirt road surrounded by RV camps waving Thin Blue Line flags (not the least scary thing for two trans women in the middle of nowhere), we made it to the location!

This area north of Delta is a fascinating place. The rough, shrubby desert, combined with an omnipresent haze (probably dust and sand kicked up by the wind) made it feel somewhat like the Mojave in Fallout: New Vegas. It was beautiful, but austere. I wanted to also go for the Local Hash in the graticule, which wasn't too far off our course, but there was fencing, and it was on (possibly leased) state land, which tends to have slightly more restriction that BLM land.

We eventually made it to the place on the road closest to the location, unloaded our bags and started walking. Following a short hike (including a required crawl under a cattle fence) we made it to the location. The land was dry and flat, but in the the distance on all sides were substantial and interesting mountains. The coordinates seemed to fall directly on a random bush. We posed together and separately with a trans flag. Took some shots of the surrounding areas, then headed back to the car.

The hot springs were busy and kinda gross, so I chose to simply stick my feet in while suspect stayed in the car. We then got back in and headed back up to SLC, satisfied with the successful mission.
