Expedition

A hash only 46 m from a previous one! That doesn't happen too often, so naturally I had to go for it. I took the train to Kiwittsmoor and then cycled 8 km to Wittmoor nature reserve. One of the (hilariously bad) roads was blocked for no apparent reason, but I was able to circumvent the barrier. Arriving near the hash, I walked over the dilapidated fence lying on the ground and found the hash lay five metres beside my field on a horse track that led to a riding centre on the other side of a paddock. Unfortunately, there were people there tending to the horses, and they could definitely see me. I decided to stall and walked 40 m over to 2019-03-03 53 10, which lay on the exact same meadow. I could not recognise any of the nearby features except a vegetated ditch I had jumped, because I had come from the other direction and it had been dark and rainy four years ago. But the distance to today's hash was so short that I feel it satisfies the Déjà-vu achievement.

I went back to the fence that separated the track, and noticed that the two women on the other side were watching me leerily. I hid behind a tree for a while until they had gone back to their business, they quickly scaled the fence and crouched at the hash – the paddock had a small hillock so that they could hopefully not see me when I kept low. Taking a few pictures, I shortly retreated and quickly walked away, relieved that none of the riders seemed to be after me.

Cycling back, I had some time and took a different route through the actual Wittmoor, which I had already visited during 2023-01-22 53 10, though I saw some cool and unexpected landscapes I did not come by before. I visited another memorial for the KZ Wittmoor and then leisurely cycled to station and took the train home.
