"Get in the car, that's a German Shepard"
Location
Just off Spangler Road in Camas. Up someone's driveway and into the trees a few feet.
Participants
- Hamblingreen
- My mom. Dad had a migraine so he couldn't make it this evening
Plans
A drive-up geohash, we'll pop out of the car, grab a picture with the poster, and head out. It's 40 minutes away via I-205 and OR-13, so let's go!
Expedition
A pretty low-key expedition, we set out toward the geohash with snickerdoodle cookies and Crox poster in hand. We turned off of Spangler Rd and realized we were turning into someone's driveway. We drove to the end of their driveway and were greeted by a fence blocking the hashpoint, a woman staring at our car, and a German Shepard walking menacingly toward us. We opted to snap a quick picture of the hash from afar and take off without getting out of the car. We didn't staple the poster anywhere because the only place to do so was a pole with a no trespassing sign on it :/
Anyway, I took a quick selfie with the poster next to a beautiful field at the entrance to the driveway, and we headed out. I'm calling this a successful expedition because even though we might not've been exactly on the hashpoint we got as close as we reasonably could and I got a photo of where it was even if I couldn't get there myself. A braver geohasher would've talked to the woman and asked for permission to hop her fence, but I wasn't that brave today.
Distractions and Detours
Like any good geohashing expedition, this is where the adventure shined. We drove through Oregon City on the way home so we decided to stop at a Willamette Falls lookout point and snap a few photos. We also stopped by the McLoughlin house to admire how old it is. It was neat to see the historic part of Oregon City, it's very beautiful over there!
