Expedition

Short and sweet. Well, except for the thistles. And the rain.

Early evening, I cycled 8.6 km to Hüttblek. The forecast said it would rain, but it wasn't too bad and I was dry again when I arrived. The hash lay on an unchecked meadow that had been thoroughly occupied by high, prickly thistles. I tried my best to navigate around the worst areas, but with every step they pierced right through the thin fabric of my trousers. I wanted it to end soon, but the hash seemed to be very far (even though in reality it was only 100 m from the road). Finally reaching it, I took some triumphant pictures and then faced the pain again. Surprisingly, even though the entire meadow was very wet, my hiking shoes managed to keep my feet dry. I took a slightly different way back and stopped to investigate a new school art project, in which a class had put models of the Sun and all planets along the Korl-Barmstedt-Weg, to scale in both size and distance and with helpful explanations. When I left, it started to rain, and although it took me less than two minutes to reach home, I arrived with my trousers thoroughly soaked.
