Expedition

Oh, boy, this was a weird one.

With the hash not too far away, and close to shopping centers on Transit road, I asked J if she wanted to join me for lunch at Panera. Her response was: 'Why? Is the Geohash at Panera today?'. Haha, I think I'm slowly converting her. After hearing it was in a neighborhood close by, she agreed to join me.

At lunchtime, we drove over and I directed her to the road by the hash, but she was a little confused thinking we were going to Panara first. I wanted to hit the hash first because that would give us two opportunities to hit it in case someone was mowing the lawn or walking out to their car. Turns out when we got there, there was a black car parked in the driveway at the end and a lady sitting on the porch talking on the phone. As we were coming from the South, we were on the wrong side of the road to be closer. J asked me what we should do as we pulled over across from the hash. I said to keep driving (as I got a screenshot from the HashDroid App) and we can go to Panera for lunch and swing by after. Maybe she would be gone by then and we can do the 'pull in the driveway to turn around' maneuver. I noted the lady kind of leaned over to look around the porch post to look at us while we paused.

We had a nice lunch and about 15-20 min later, we tried again with the Hashdroid App running on our approach. Unfortunately, she was still there talking on the phone and again I noted she looked out at us. Not wanting her to be too weirded out by us, I hopped out of the car to try to get permission to take a selfie on her front lawn. As I said hi, she held up her finger in a hang on a moment while I tell the other person on the phone to hold up, there's a weirdo trying to talk to me on my front lawn. Once she was listening to me, I quickly tried to explain why we were there, but she was either too weirded out, was distracted or just didn't care as her response was 'sorry, what?' followed immediately by, 'no, thank you'. As in "I wasn't really listening or didn't understand what you were talking about, I don't know what you are selling and now I just want you to go away."

Sure thing, lady. I responded with 'Ok, thanks anyway' and when I turned around to see how close I was actually able to get, I saw I was within the circle of uncertainty so I grabbed a screenshot.

Technically, when she denied my access to her lawn, at that moment I was trespassing and had to leave her property, but I had to approach her going close enough to the hash to request permission in the first place. So before being denied access, I was ok to be there and I'll call this a ninja success. Back on the street and in the car, I can't go back on the property so can I now also claim a No Trespassing? Maybe Schrödinger's Expedition: I was both successful (able to reach the hash) and unsuccessful (unable to get a selfie and surrounding area pictures) at the same time?

Unless there is any opposition, I'm leaning toward taking both the success and count another toward my Posted Achievement. Leave a comment about what you think on the talk page! I'll wait a while before claiming the No Trespassing ribbon as I feel like that's more in contention as I was able (in a close enough way) to physically reach the hash.

Given no opposition, I'm updating this to both a Success and No Trespassing.
