Expedition

Actually my first hash in Barmstedt, can you believe it? I considered several plans, but the train times are very inconvenient and it only leaves once an hour. In the end, I left a meeting I had in the afternoon early and took the A3 to Barmstedt, then cycled 2.5 km to the hash. It lay just behind a farm, and I could've just walked straight through it, but heard someone working there and instead opted to walk around. There were tractor tracks leading across two fields right to the hash, but it had rained heavily before (and was still drizzling lightly), so they had turned into a giant mudslide with interspersing puddles. I walked on the grass beside, but it was so wet that I knew my socks would be soaked by the time I made it back. So I tried to find the patches where the mud was shallowest and focused on not slipping, which I managed.

I located the coordinates right on the track just nine metres behind a barn. I could still hear someone working (though it might have just been the cows I assume were housed in the barn, based on the noise), so I left immediately after taking pictures, managing to keep my feet mostly dry. I had wanted to cycle through Barmstedt a bit before getting on my train, but the rain had intensified somewhat, so I just got a quick look at the cemetery right beside the street before waiting the last 15 minutes at the station, trousers soaked. I then continued on the A3 to Elmshorn and then to Hamburg, although both trains managed to accumulate more than 10 minutes delay on only 20 minutes of scheduled time.
