EB and I had a three day hike from Friday to Sunday. As is customary, we checked for geohashes before we left - pretty good chance we'd be going nearish to one. And...boom! Euroa, a town just off the Hume Freeway.
We were a bit slow on the packing front and didn't leave home till after 12. So our plan for "lunch" in Euroa turned into coffee and a pastry or two. Even though I'm pretty sure I've driven through Euroa half a dozen times on similar food-finding missions in the past, somehow this seems to be the first time I've ever actually found Euroa's main street. It was bustling! There were so many cafes! I'm not really sure what I've been doing wrong all these years.
Soon we found more interesting streets out the back side of Euroa, taking a winding route to cross a river labelled on maps as "Seven Creeks". What kind of name is that? So weird. A very nice and bushlandy area, anyway.
We parked, and EB did her standard thing of turning up her nose at the idea of stepping into anyone's property, and stayed in the car. My cursory research had shown either an empty block (StreetView) or a house (satellite imagery) - I had my money on the latter.
And...sure enough! A house! Wow! But fortunately, no front fence. The point lay barely a metre across the imaginary line separating nature strip from front garden, so I was able to walk very surreptitiously past and not at all suspiciously take a few steps across the invisible line and back. To make extra sure I did it twice with a flourish, just in case any neighbours were watching, which it didn't seem they were.
And then we went hiking.
