Actually it is a rotary pump that is missing the engine or electric motor. The engine is probably removed for the winter and reinstalled in the summer months to prevent the motor/engine from being stolen. Water is pumped up from the ground and the hose connection is on the other side. --NWoodruff 11:29, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
