The Manhattan, KS graticule is at latitude 39, longitude -96. The north edge runs along the Kansas/Nebraska border and includes the counties of Washington, Marshall and Nemaha. The south edge runs just south of I-70 and includes the counties of Geary, Riley, Pottawatomie and Wabunsee. The largest city in this graticule is Manhattan which is home to Kansas State University. Other cities include Wamego, Ogden, Junction City, Riley, Marysville and Seneca as well as many small rural communities and countless wheat fields.
The terrain consists mostly of rolling hills. (the Flint Hills) There are also two lakes: Tuttle Creek Lake and Milford Lake, both of which are man-made reservoirs operated by the Army Corps of Engineers. Surrounding the lakes is a lot of state and federal park land. Most of the rest of the land is owned by farmers and may be used for crops, as grazing land for livestock or simply left to the prairie grasses and trees. Be respectful and cautious when attempting to reach a meetup. Some farmers and most bulls may not appreciate visitors. Also of note is the US Army base of Fort Riley. Protip: do not under any circumstances attempt to reach locations within the artillery range impact zone unless you happen to be driving a tank.
