Hey thanks for adding the map Benjw, but something is really odd -- the coordinates at the bottom are correct (or at least they're the same as those given by the Small Hash Inquiry Tool, which I was proceeding from) but the red Google marker thing on the map is clearly not anywhere near those coordinates! Do you know what's up? I don't know anything about how the automagic maps work myself... -- OtherJack 18:18, 4 September 2012 (EDT)
- Hmm. The map marker is pointing to the hashpoint for that graticule, and not to the globalhash. I'm not sure why. Will investigate. — Benjw {talk} 18:26, 4 September 2012 (EDT)
- Have investigated. The pin's location is set by the bit of code that displays the map, and is always the graticule hashpoint for the latitude and longitude given. Unfortunately it cannot be changed on the wiki. However, it has reminded me that one of the things I was intending to sort out was the behind-the-scenes code for the mapping gizmo, so I will get onto that soon. For now, I've added a note to the global map template saying that the pin is in the wrong place, and a couple of links to maps which will show the correct location. — Benjw {talk} 18:56, 4 September 2012 (EDT)

- And, for what it's worth, the graticule displayed by the map doesn't even seem to be right all the time - it's currently just showing blue ocean... -- OtherJack 05:04, 7 September 2012 (EDT)
- That's because coordinates have not yet been released for today (7 September), so the map gizmo throws a wobbly and I think it shows coordinates 0,0 (which is in the South Atlantic). Once hash o'clock has passed, the graticule shown will be correct again, but I wonder if it's worth taking the map out completely until such time as I can fix it? — Benjw {talk} 05:11, 7 September 2012 (EDT)
