I took the liberty of completely overhauling the Geohashers list. I noticed that of the 31 people listed in this section, only 4 of us have actually been actively contributing to the Geohashing wiki within the last 3 years! So after carefully checking each and every person's User Contributions page, I removed everyone who hasn't done anything (on the wiki) since 2008-2009. I did not remove anyone who has evidence on their user page of having made at least one geohashing expedition -- which was nobody in that group, anyway. I remember when Randall unleashed geohashing upon the populace in May 2008, everyone got super stoked about it (myself included) and a lot of people added their names to this page along with a little message saying where they live and/or that they're interested in geohashing in the Triangle area (again, myself included...), which is great, but nearly all of these people didn't actually end up making any expeditions -- or if they did, they never documented them on the wiki. In the interest of keeping this page clean and hopefully inviting more serious geohashers, I've decided to remove all of these people. I realize this is potentially controversial, and if any of you guys are reading this, you're still interested in geohashing in the near future, and you're offended that I've removed you, then I am terribly sorry, and you can feel free to re-add yourselves, and please do start geohashing soon! Once you make your first expedition, you won't want to stop! I'd like to add that I was one of those people who added myself to this page back in 2008 saying I was really interested in geohashing, and geohashing was always in the back of my head, but I never actually got around to making my first expedition until earlier this month (five years later!). Here's hoping that the same thing will happen to some more of these ladies and gents that I just removed from the list. I'd love to see our graticule's geohashing community flourish. :) -- Dave Drowsy (talk) 15:38, 16 September 2013 (EDT)

H-Hello...?

Have there really been no geohashes in our graticule since 2009!? I live in Durham and work 9-to-5 in Raleigh. I check almost every day to see if there are any hashes that aren't too far from my daily commute. Of course, weekends are fair game - I'm willing to go out to Apex, Wake Forest, etc. if it's on a Saturday or Sunday. Anyone else still hashing in this graticule? --Dave Drowsy (talk) 13:28, 12 September 2013 (EDT)

Incoming!

Hi NC people! I'm going to be in your area (in Chapel Hill, actually) in the last half of January. Here's hoping for a good meetup or two... -- Rhonda 07:13, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Do I hear a road trip in my future? --NWoodruff 13:01, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Another Visitor

I'll be visiting my Brother in New Bern this upcoming weekend (3/14) and my Buffalo Sabres are playing the 'Canes on 3/17. I'm entering enemy territory to go to the game and my brother and I will be in town the afternoon of the game. If a hashpoint is close and convenient, I'd love to try to make a meetup (and my Brother has shown a willingness to be a Drag-Along). Is anyone still around? Even if there isn't a hash, it would be awesome to have a local give us some pointers on what to do/where to eat before the game. Pedalpusher (talk) 23:00, 8 March 2020 (UTC)

Well, with the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, the NHL has followed the NBA and cancelled the remainder of the season, so this part of my trip is going to be skipped :( Pedalpusher (talk) 00:15, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
