Talk:Yegor'yevsk, Russia

From Geohashing

Rename to just Yegoryevsk?

At least that's how wikipedia lists it. V1993 (talk) 23:19, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

AFAIK the Russian transliteration used on this wiki so far is fairly consistent in this particular subject (modulo the exact form of the apostrophe - don't ask me why Astrakhan’, Russia and Kazan', Russia have different ones, and this should probably be unified).
If it should be changed (which I'm not fundamentally against), that should be a decision for all the relevant graticules (with possible individual exceptions) and not just this one. --January First-of-May (talk) 07:32, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
Not having to percent-encode to URL-safe a graticule name would be a boon, whether done with or without a typewriter apostrophe. Arlo (talk) 00:55, 14 December 2021 (UTC)
I found 109 Russian graticules that contain a ' or a ’ - I can probably get the bot to do most of the heavy lifting, but before I write the script, you, the native speakers, should agree if this a good idea. Here is the list:
